Quiz

A bar’s quiz night or a quiz inside a talk — teams or players answer on their phones against the clock, and the screens show the question, the countdown, the reveal, the leaderboard and the podium.

A quiz is prepared once and played as games — Friday’s quiz night, then Saturday’s. Players join from the same QR code guests use for notes and questions, alone or in teams, and answer on their phones against the clock. The screens show the question, the countdown, how many answered, the right answer and the leaderboard — ending on a podium.

  • A bar’s quiz night: teams join at their table, rounds of questions, the leaderboard between them, run from a tablet — or by itself.
  • A conference quiz: a few questions inside a session, each player on their own, a top 10 at the end.

The lobby: the screen shows the QR code and the teams as they fill up; a phone picks its team.

Prepare a quiz

  1. Make a quiz on an engagement

On the engagement’s page, the Quizzes card: New quiz. A quiz has rounds (Warm-up, Picture round, Final) and each round its questions.

  2. Write the questions

Four kinds: multiple choice (2–4 answers, A–D, tick the right one), true or false, a number (“In which year…”, with how far off still counts — the closer, the more points) and put in order (enter the items in the right order; players see them shuffled). Each question has its points (1000 by default), its time (20 s) and an optional picture from the media library.

  3. Or import a spreadsheet

Import takes a CSV with one row per question — round, question, type, a, b, c, d, answer, time, points; only the question and the answer are needed. Download the template from the card. Rows it cannot read are listed; the rest come in.

  4. Choose how it plays

Each on their own or Teams (the team’s first answer counts — or its captain’s). The leaderboard after every question, after each round or only at the end. A streak bonus for right answers in a row. And Runs by itself: reading time, the reveal and the leaderboard follow on their own.

Right: the Quizmaster on a tablet showing the question, the answer only the host sees, Leaderboard, Next question and Podium buttons and the teams’ scores.

Run a game

Open the Quizmaster — Quiz in the engagement’s panel on the Live board, or Quizmaster on the engagement’s page — on a phone or a tablet, pick the quiz and press Start a game. The screens show the lobby while the room joins. Then:

  1. Begin — the first question appears; after a moment to read it, the answers open and the countdown runs on every screen and phone.
  2. The question locks by itself when its time is up (or press Lock).
  3. Reveal — the right answer lights up, with how many picked each answer and the fastest right one; each phone says right or wrong, the points and the rank.
  4. Leaderboard, then Next question — and after the last one, the Podium.

Switch on Runs by itself and a round plays on its own. A rude team name? Take the player out from the list. When the engagement’s polls are the presenter’s to run, the presenter runs the quiz from their page too.

A question: the countdown on the screen and the phone ends on the same moment.

A screen with “The Rhine flows into the North Sea.”, a countdown ring at 4 seconds, 3 answered, and a green True and a red False; beside it a phone with the same question, big True and False buttons and a bar counting down.

The reveal: the right answer and how the room answered; on the phone, the points and the rank.

A screen revealing “Which city is the capital of Switzerland?”: Bern outlined with 17 answers, Zurich 1, Geneva 0, Basel 1, “17 of 19 right” and the fastest, Ada of The Quizzly Bears; beside it a phone saying “Right! +875 points, the answer B · Bern, rank 1”.

On the screens

Add a Quiz block to a scene and pick the engagement. It follows whatever game runs there: the lobby with the QR code and the players flowing in, the question with a countdown ring, the answers counted in, the reveal, the leaderboard reordering itself, and the podium. It takes the engagement’s colors and works on wide, upright and ultra-wide screens.

Results

Each game’s final leaderboard and every question’s answers stay on the engagement’s page under Games played, with a CSV. Replay a quiz any time: each game starts from zero.
