Portrait and widescreen

One story, portrait and widescreen

Pair a portrait scene with a widescreen twin. One story then plays on a kiosk and a wide screen, each in its own shape, at the same moment.

A scene is designed for one shape. A portrait kiosk scene shown on a widescreen is a narrow picture with bars beside it, and a hand-made widescreen copy in a second story drifts from the first the day someone edits one of them. Instead, give the scene an orientation twin: the same scene, designed for the other shape.

Pair two scenes

  1. Design the widescreen version

Make a second scene on a widescreen canvas with the same content, laid out for the wide screen. Give it the same number of shots, so the two turn together.

  2. Pick the twin on the scene page

The scene page's header shows which way the scene faces. In the twin picker, choose the other scene. Pairing works both ways; None unpairs. Problems — both facing the same way, a different number of shots — show under the picker.

  3. Keep one story

Put only the original in the story and book it on both stages. Each stage plays the version that fits its shape.

What plays where

A stage that faces the other way than a scene plays the scene's twin. Everything else stays the original's: its fields and records, the story's chapter settings, its buttons and details — and every scene a button opens swaps to its own twin too. Square scenes never swap. Previews of a story in the editor and the guest page on phones are unchanged.

Each twin shot keeps the original shot's timing, so a kiosk and a wide screen turn at the same moment. A twin with a different number of shots keeps its own timing, and the editor tells you.

Same story, same moment

Stages of one workspace that play the same story show the same moment — the same shot and the same record of a rolling chapter — with no setting to turn on. Together with twins, a portrait kiosk and a widescreen beside it read as one installation. New Moments arrive on both at once, tilted at the same angle.
