Session feedback

A short survey for every session, on the phones already in the room — asked when the session ends, open by link for days after, with results per session and the whole event compared.

After a talk, the people in the room tell you how it was — on the phone that is already in their hand, through the same QR code they use for notes and questions. When a session ends, their phones bring a Feedback tab to the front: a rating, one for each speaker, what they take away, what could be better. Most answers are a single tap; the whole survey takes well under a minute.

  • Nothing to set up. Every session gets the workspace’s form. An event or one session can change it or switch it off.
  • Anonymous by default, one answer per guest per session. A guest can change their answer until the survey closes.
  • After the session too. Each session has a feedback link and QR code for the lobby screens or the next morning’s e-mail — no joining needed.

On the guest’s phone: which session, one tap per question, one per speaker, and the thank-you.

Three guest phones: the first lists the sessions that just ended — “Designing for the whole room” with Ada Lovelace and Jonas Berg, “Screens that listen” and the opening keynote; the second asks “How was Ada Lovelace?” with five stars; the third shows a yellow heart and “Thank you! Your feedback goes straight to the organizers.”

The form every session gets

Under Settings → Feedback is the form every session gets. Out of the box it asks four things: how the session was overall, how each speaker was, what the guest takes away and what could be better. Change it there — the guest’s phone beside it shows the result as you type.

A form has up to eight questions of five kinds: a rating (1–5 stars or faces, optionally once per speaker — write {speaker} for the name), a 0–10 recommend question (shown as an NPS score), a choice of 2–8 options, yes/no and text.

Settings → Feedback: the questions, when guests are asked, anonymous or not, what speakers see — and the phone as guests will see it.

Settings → Feedback: the questions of the default form (overall rating, a rating per speaker, what you take away, what could be better), buttons to add a rating, a 0–10 recommend, a choice, yes/no or text, when guests are asked and the answers settings; on the right a phone showing the form as guests see it.

  1. Change it for an event or a session

On a show’s page or a session’s page, the Feedback card says which form applies — Uses the workspace’s form, its own, or Off. Change for this event starts its own form from the one it inherits; Use the workspace’s form again drops it. The nearest form wins: the session’s own, then its event’s, then the workspace’s.

  2. Choose when guests are asked

When the session ends brings the tab forward on the phones in the room. During the session keeps it there from the start, for people who leave early. Afterwards by link keeps the session’s link and QR code working for the number of days you choose (7 by default); then the survey closes.

  3. Decide what speakers see

Nothing, ratings, or ratings and text. A speaker sees it on their own presenter page once their session is over.

On the phone

The moment a session finishes, every phone that follows it — the session’s own engagement, the room’s check-in code, the event’s or the workspace’s — shows the survey. A guest in the middle of writing a note is asked first; Later leaves a dot on the tab. If the engagement closed with the session, the survey takes the place of Closed for now. When several sessions ended lately (an engagement for the whole event), the phone asks Which session were you in?.

Guests who never joined can answer too — straight from the hello screen, or through the feedback link. One browser counts as one guest wherever it answers, so nobody answers twice.

On the screens

Put a QR code block on a scene and choose The session’s feedback link. On a session’s own presenter slide it shows that session’s code; on the stage’s other scenes it shows the talk that just ended there, for three hours — add a caption like Tell us how it was. With no session to ask about, the code simply isn’t drawn.

Results

A session’s Results (from the Feedback card) show each question: the average and the spread of a rating, the NPS, the percentages of a choice, and the text answers, newest first. CSV exports every answer without anyone’s identity. The event compared puts every session of a show side by side — answers, the overall rating, each speaker’s, the NPS — sortable by any column.

The Feedback page of the session “Designing for the whole room”: 39 answers; Ada Lovelace rated 4.7 and Jonas Berg 4.2 with bars for each star value; the overall rating 4.3; and below, what guests will take away, newest first.
